My Cameras:

Nikon F100
The workhorse of my collection. I shoot most of my photojournalistic work with this camera. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serious but somewhat affordable film SLR.

Nikon D100
Advertised by Nikon as the digital version of the F100. Not exactly. However, it does take wonderfully crisp digital images. I use it for pix of the kid and other things I just want to capture.

Ricoh GR1v
My in the pocket everyday camera. I carry this little thing with me everywhere and I love it. It has a great balance of auto and manual options that you don't find in most point and shoot range finders.

Pentax 645
A great entry level medium format camera if you're looking for one. I use it for portraits, in studio work or anything that I want to make sure looks extra pretty.

You're checking out the blog of J. Geoffrey Badner. Thanks for visiting.

I'm a 35 year old Designer and Photographer living in the comfortably gentrified Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, USA. My home base is a funky brownstone duplex in which my wife Susan and I nest our ridiculously adorable daughter Sasha.

More of a pleasure than a passion, photography is the ying to my yang of a day job as a Creative Director. An expressive outlet that doesn't require a creative strategy, involve focus group testing or suffer homogenization by trying to reach Soccer Moms in Kansas. However, I do take my work seriously and have a short list of professional clients. See more on the other side of this site -- the portfolio section.

Oh, and I've also been published. I'm a contributing photographer to TheMorningNews.org where you can see several of my galleries.

Influences? Well, in its heart, my work is journalistic. Whether individually or as a series, my photographs tell stories. I have a range of modern greats that I look to for inspiration - Christopher Morris for his black and white work, John Stanmeyer for his color and Lauren Greenfield for her sharp story telling. Design also plays a part in my work. For this I have to thank David Carson and Andreas Gursky.

Thanks again for taking the time to browse around. The blog gets updated when I have time. Obviously, with a day job and a kid time can be hard to come by. If you would like to be notified of updates via email, there is a sign up box in the right column of this page that you can use.
